BENEVOLENT YOUNG ALASKANS DONATES TO ALAKPLE AND LATAME COMMUNITIES.

A concerned youth group made up of citizens of Alakple, home and abroad, on Saturday, April 3, 2021, donated some assorted foodstuffs to some identified less privileged individuals in the Alakple and Latame communities.

The Young Alaskans, as part of their six-year anniversary celebration, decided to raise fund among its members to support and put a smile on the faces of some 60 persons whose living conditions were found to be below par during this Easter festive season.

The items donated to the deserving beneficiaries were maize, rice, soap, matches and tomato paste sachets.

The interim vice-president of the group, Joseline Demordzi, said the objective of the group is to assist the beneficiaries during this Easter as part of the group's six-year anniversary celebration, and to lessen the burden that COVID-19 has exerted on some households.

The items worth Ghc 2,000.00 were fairly distributed among the deserving beneficiaries.

In a separate brief ceremony held at Alakple Basic school, the group again donated varieties of Ghanaian writers' story books and textbooks to the Alakple Community Library, also in line with the group's objective to encourage reading among pupils of Alakple Basic school.

This year's donation becomes the second time the group has donated to the school some books to stock the library.

Receiving the books on behalf of the school, the P.T.A chairperson, Madam Jane Kporku and the representative of S.M.C, Dumega Kordzo Deyegbe, expressed their appreciations to the Young Alaskans for their commitment towards the development of the Alakple community and the school.

The headmaster, Mr. Fidelis Adzi, on behalf of the teachers and the pupils, also expressed his gratitude and joy to the group and pledged to continue encouraging the pupils to take reading and learning seriously in order to improve the general academic performance of the pupils and the image of the school as a one-time best school in the Anloga District.

Mr. Francis Gasu and Mr. Saviour Adzibolosu, representatives of the Young Alaskans, handed over the books worth Ghc 12,000.00 to the headmaster and thanked him for the warm reception.
